For this project I got the idea to do a festival after movie. It is very common for people to make their own videos and then create a cool short movie kind of summing up what the festival was like. A lot of the major companies that put on these festivals even make their own videos a lot of the time. I also drew a lot of inspiration from the teaser and trailer videos that they release before an event. Here are a couple videos in particular that I really liked: 1, 2, 3
Some of the design principals that really influenced me were the use of color, camera angles and different effects to give the videos different feels. I feel like by using different effects as seen in the examples that I provided, different feelings and emotions are able to be expressed. I’m hoping that when I go back and edit I will also be able to effectively show the different emotions and feeling of each of the festivals that I went to.
To do this project I started out by going to all of the events that I wanted featured in my video. I took a lot of footage but because it was so crowded a lot of it was really jerky and hard to focus. I feel like this kind of helps with the feeling of being at a concert. I also made the mistake of taking a bunch of vertical footage which I later found out that I couldn’t use for this project. Because of this my whole project has bee change around. I no longer plan on doing just a recap of my year of raving but instead will do a voice over highlighting what I love most about them. For my draft I started by adding a bunch of videos that I really liked. I then cropped them down to the specific point that I liked the most. After this I added a few small transitions. I didn’t use any audio from the videos because it was too loud and poor but I plan on using my voice and other music in the background. Along with this I still need to add a title page, credits and the names of the artists that are being featured. I also plan to add more effects to make the videos each have their own feel. I know I still have a lot more work to do but I am excited to see how it comes out.
I used a song in my draft but do not plan to have it in the final, it is only there now so that my draft isn’t silent.

I like this video it has smooth transitions and quality of the video is really nice. When you go to edit the sound you have it would be cool if you did a voice over and tell the viewer what is was like though your eyes at the concert, help the video tell more of a story. Also, I would try and find some video you have or something to wrap it up I feel like it ends really abruptly. P.S. there is also a typo in the third paragraph “Because of this my whole project has bee change around”. I really did like this video, how you got all thoughts different angles. bummer that some of it was shot vertically though. I think your final will be awesome, good luck and enjoy summer!

Looking back at my draft I realized just how much more work I have to do. I really like the videos that I have so far but I think I might want to add some photos that I have as well as some videos of my friends and me at the concert. I think that if I change up the order of some of the videos it might flow a little better too. Looking at some of the feedback I got I might try using the audio I have from the last project to put a little bit of narrative to my video as well. I think that if I utilize more of the content that I have then my video will have a more finished feeling to it as well as show the feeling of EDM festivals better. I want to try to add a few more different transitions as well. I think I’m going to start off with a sort of title page as well so that people will have a little knowledge about what my video is going to be about. I think one of the final things I want to do is add different songs to different clips so that there is a multitude of different paces throughout the video.

I really like what you have done so far! I also think that it is cool that you have a passion like this and love music festivals. I really like the images and video clips that you used and the way you incorporated both video and audio to your project. I think maybe something you might want to keep in mind is the number of different transitions that you use. If you have too many conflicting types of transitions the video gets a little chaotic and cluttered. Maybe try picking two or three and then just switching between the use of those. I think another thing you could do to strengthen your video is add audio! If you narrated over some of the photos or just added a little text and pointed out exactly where the festival took place and when then you would have a much stronger story. Other than that I think you have a really strong start

Hi, I really like your project so far. I like the images and video clips that you used and I think that you did a very good job incorporating video and audio to your project. I think maybe you should only have a couple transitons to try to make your project more simple. Another thing you can do is maybe narrate your photos, but overall I really liked your project and I think you are doing a really great job so far.
